Lab-grown diamonds · CVD · HPHT
Lab-growndiamonds, clearlylabelled
Chemically and optically the same diamond, grown under controlled conditions. We state the growth method on every stone and certificate, without exception.
Crystal growth
CVD and HPHT
CVD: the diamond grows layer by layer on a thin diamond seed plate in a carbon rich plasma.
HPHT: recreates the conditions of the Earth’s mantle, with pressure above 50,000 bar and temperatures above 1,300 °C.

Controlled conditions
Consistent quality
Controlled growth gives consistent colours and sizes, ideal for serial jewellery production and matched sets. Fancy colour lab-grown diamonds are also available: pink, blue, yellow and green.
Comparison
Natural and lab-grown diamond
Physically the same material. The difference is the origin, which is why the label on the report matters.

FAQ
Lab-grown diamonds
Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. It is a diamond with the same chemical composition, hardness and optical properties as a natural one. It is not an imitation such as glass or cubic zirconia.
What is the difference between CVD and HPHT?
A CVD crystal grows layer by layer from a carbon rich gas. HPHT recreates the high pressure and temperature inside the Earth. Both produce diamond, and the method is stated on the report.
How is it told apart from a natural diamond?
Only with specialised laboratory equipment. That is why the IGI or GIA report states laboratory origin and the girdle carries a laser inscription.
